In support to the goal of the Department of Education (DepEd) to establish accurate and comprehensive data of school buildings, classrooms and other educational facilities in all public elementary and secondary schools in the country, the Schools Division Office of Alaminos City, through the approval of the never-tiring Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Lorna Garcia-Bugayong, CESO VI, with the support of the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Mr. Aguedo C. Fernandez, CESO VI, conducted the Division Orientation on the Inventory and Maintenance of School Buildings, Classrooms and Facilities held at La Esplanada Transient House, Brgy. Lucap, Alaminos City last December 23, 2019.
Upon arriving in the venue, the participants to this one-day Division orientation were tasked to register and to sign the attendance sheet. A short opening program was led by Dr. Diana Marie G. Oiguan, Education Program Specialist II and the Officer-In-Charge in the Office of the Senior Education Program Specialist of the Human Resource Development with Planning and Research unit. At the start of the opening program, all the participants were requested to stand for the singing of the National Anthem and the prayer.
In his message, Dr. Arturo R. Viray, Chief of the School Governance and Operations Division, said that the Schools Division Office of Alaminos City, through the School Governance and Operations Division and the initiative of Engr. Merjorie B. Corpuz, Division Engineer, aims to provide guidance to all the School Heads on the validation of data elements of all public elementary and secondary schools in the Division. Furthermore, the Division Office targets to capacitate all the School Heads, as well as the Supply Officers, Property Custodians, Physical Facilities coordinators and Basic Education Information System coordinators on the latest updates about educational facilities to make the gathering of data more accurate and reliable.
During the orientation proper, Dr. Viray presented the rationale and objectives of the activity, the results and findings of the 2016 National School Building Inventory and the Status of Asset Inventory Validation. He also oriented the participants on the forms to be accomplished when conducting school building inventory and the system, policies and standards to be followed during such activities. He, too, presented an updated baseline data of school buildings in all DepEd schools for the participants to have advance data and input in planning, allocating budget and future decision-making.
In the afternoon, Engr. Corpuz discussed the System Process Flow and the User Account Management. Moreover, she presented the validated school building inventories and also explained the Memorandum which was released by DepEd about the National Inventory of all public school buildings for the School Year 2019-2020, dated last September 2019 and was signed by the Undersecretary for Planning, Human Resource Organizational Development and Filed Operations, Jesus Lorenzo R. Mateo.
After the discussion of Engr. Corpuz, the closing program followed immediately. The participants were requested to rise and to sing the Patriotic Song. Some participants gave their impressions and thanked the members of the training team for initiating the activity. Before the awarding of certificates of participation to the participants, Mrs. Marife A. Viray, Planning Officer III in the Division Office, gave few reminders about the Learners Information System (LIS).
